Hola mi amigos!
I have learned so much these past two days of being in the hospitals here. Today, some of the doctors had asked us questions about how to move patient when they need to stabilized from a his fracture. Our case pertained a elderly woman who feel in a bathroom and was on the floor for over 12 hours. When transport brought her in, it seemed she was not stabilized correctly, and we were asked what positions or movements should we do to stabilize her. We said "log-rolling" and demonstrated how it was to be performed. While there is no word for "log-rolling in Spanish, they understood what me meant, and we felt very good to participate in the class. We also watched a presentation about the importance of hand hygiene as it would be in the United States. I noticed that instead of the 15 second rule of washing your hands, it is between 40-60 seconds in Mexico. This could be attributed to the fact they don't wear gloves unless they own their own, otherwise they would have to charge the patient for them. I had no patients in my unit today , but my nurse was very gracious in helping me study for my final exams, and I think it is partly because of her I did well on my grammar test (not sure of my Medical Spanish test because it has not been graded).
So, there is not really much to my day other than school. I have a few pictures of the hospital as well as the church that is nearby that we caught a glimpse of yesterday. Enjoy! Hasta luego!

This is the courtyard to the hospital in which I am attending clinicals.

There were no patients today, so I took a picture of the rooms in which there were a total of 5 beds for the whole unit. It lies next to the nursery.

These last pictures are of the church across the street from our hospital. This one is external while the rest are inside the church.
A statue I found fascinating. Not sure what it is depicting.
