Hola!
Today in our La Cultura class, we learned about alternative medicines. In nursing school, we were told to beware of these items because of the interactions they cause with prescription medication when patients take them together. However, we learned today that not only do the native people of Mexico take them, but doctors will also incorporate them into their practice! Our maestra brought different teas for us to try along with some cookies!
Later after we completed most of our homework, we decided to try a small little Italian restaurant that is literally a five minute walk from our house! My adviser and I saw it on our way home yesterday when we saw our other group's host mother's house! We decided today we wanted to try it, and it was very good! After talking to the waiter for a bit, we learned that the restaurant name "Quilombo" is from an word with origins from Argentina that means "party". Their mascot happens to be cow.
So that is all for today! Tomorrow is the last day of our theory classes before we take our finals on Tuesday! I am sad we will not get to see our maestros much anymore, but also excited/nervous that we will be starting the clinicals as the next part of the programs! Here are more photos and talk to you soon! Hasta Luego!
Paula
This is one of the teas we had with cookies! Surprisingly, it was very good without the sugar!
The sign of the restaurant we had eaten at today!
All of us!!
An added bonus picture from the fourth of July yesterday! We didn't see the movie, but when we were deciding if we were going to, we caught his familiar face!!!
